Poor Ole Joe (key D->E)
Poor Ole Joe, I guess he’ll never know
How his baby boy became the son of God
He was sprucing up the manger when, in popped 3 wise strangers
Dropping off myrrh, frankincense and gold
Now Joe struggled at home all alone
Busting his fingers to the bone
Building bowls, and chairs made of wood
Well his Grandpa was a carpenter
And his wife sure got real popular
But between them all, they did the best they could
Poor Ole Joe, I guess he’ll never know
How his baby boy became the son of God
He was sprucing up the manger when, in popped 3 wise strangers
Dropping off myrrh, frankincense and gold
One day the wife said “Oh My Lord!,
Now please Joe don’t go overboard,
But I am pretty sure I got a bun in me”
Joe’s face dropped and went slack-jaw
Wondering what he’d tell his Pa
‘Bout a majical addition to his family
Poor Ole Joe, I guess he’ll never know
How his baby boy became the son of God
He was sprucing up the manger when, in popped 3 wise strangers
Dropping off myrrh, frankincense and gold
Solo
Now the boy dropped right ‘round Christmas time
Joe thought Santa wouldn’t mind
If the whole wide world, could share this starry night
Well the Father Son and Holy Ghost
Thought that Joe was just the most
And made him a Saint, cause he’s alright
Poor Ole Joe, I guess he’ll never know
How his baby boy became the son of God
Whether it’s flying reindeer, or magic wombs
As long as we all sing those tunes
Have a happy clappy Christmas one and all (x3)
